Great restaurant. We really enjoyed taqueria 27. Their tacos are very good while their apps are also very good. We got their roasted guac and chips and salsa. We loved the chips and salsa and like the guac. There wasn't a ton of flavor, we felt it was under salted. But they added balsamic to it which was a great choice and something I have never had. Tacos: chicken, carnitas, and carne asada. The carnitas were verrrry good. Would return for those. Carne asada were very good. Not as good but very good. Then the chicken were just alright. Pretty bland and nothing special. Churros: Wife loved em I dislike them. I'm just not a fan of churros, but she was raving about them! Overall very good! Definitely one of the better places we've had here in SLC.
This place at the edge of Salt Lake City it's a very hip and trendy taco place, it's more like a fusion of Latin food more than authentic Mexican Taqueria, the place was packed, their taco options are all very original and they were very flavorful, service was a bit slow since I mentioned it was completely full, forgot to take a picture of the tacos but I had the duck tacos and it was very tasty dish, The queso fundido With carne asada was delicious, and so was the very original guacamole they had for the day, they change the flavors every day so you have to ask what the chef came up with on that day
Overall, this was pretty good. Our party went on a Saturday night around 6:00. The place was about 2/3 full inside and one table filled outside. We were seated immediately. The experience was good but our waiter didn't really "wait". He seemed in a hurry all night, and would stop for a second at our table but not enough to get our order in. For example, one couple at the table ordered the G.O.D. and my wife and I were planning to get the queso. However, we didn't get the chance. As soon as he got the order of guac, he bolted from the table, return several minutes later with the quac and ready to take our order. I'm sure I could have stopped him but, I wasn't in the mood to make a deal. We just ordered our dinners and left as soo as we could get the checks. The food is good. I've only been to the downtown location before. The Foothill location was on par speaking of the quality of food. Probably would be five stars if the service was a little less rushed.
Consistently good across all locations! Our server was excellent and really prompt with everything. I had the carnitas tacos and the special of the day, which was fried chicken tacos (and they were delicious!) Honestly, taqueria 27 is a good place that I enjoy going to with friends and having in my mix of restaurants to visit. However, I don't think it's the best Mexican food by any means, more of a mainstream cute taco place with selections like beet and goat cheese tacos.
Look, I hear a lot of people say how T27 is overrated and overpriced, but I am a fan. I have been a big fan of the grilled pear & roasted beet taco for years, but have shifted to the grilled veggie taco as I'm trying to transition dairy out of my diet. I love the combination of seasonal vegetables combined with rice, all topped with a bit of crunch from the pepitas. If you ask me $6-7 really is not unreasonable for two tacos when you look at the fact they are clearly using quality ingredients. And two tacos is generally plenty when combined with chips and salsa or guac. If I'm really hungry, four tacos is more than enough, and less than $15 when it comes down to it. I call that a pretty good deal, personally. Plus, I'd argue they have some of the best margaritas in SLC.
